With less than a week from the tour kick off, all the details are falling into place. The 38 volunteer riders - who will be biking anywhere from 50 km to the entire 1,800km - are looking forward to visiting our gracious hosts and supporting them in their work. While we anticipate rain, hills, headwinds and heat, we are also looking forward to some fantastic activities arranged by the host volunteers at their sites. The program already includes malaria awareness campaigns, theatre performances, literacy activities, youth group debates, soap-making, tree planting and even tofu-making. As a final culmination of the 50th anniversary of Peace Corps, the tour will end at a cross-cultural fair in Ouagadougou and the swearing-in of 47 new volunteers.
Stay tuned for daily - or every other day - updates while on the road. There are sure to be some ridiculous and heartwarming stories and photos of our travels for your enjoyment.
